This lovely cowl is super fast to knit, super easy to make, and super cozy!

I knit this cowl in about two hours, it’s perfect if you need a last minute gift and have some super bulky yarn laying around. Feel free to use this cowl knitting pattern for personal use, but do not use it commercially without contacting me first.

Cabled Cowl Knitting Pattern

Materials:

90 yards super bulky yarn (I used euroyarns brushtrokes mega wool)

Needles: US 17 /12.75mm

Cable needle

Sewing needle and thread

3-4 large buttons

Things to know:

CO: Cast on

K: Knit

P: Purl

Stockinette Stitch: Knit on the right side, purl on the wrong side

C12F: Cable 12 to the Front: When you hit this part, slip 6 stitches purl-wise onto a cable needle and hold in front of the work. Knit 6 stitches. Knit the 6 stitches off of the cable needle

C12B: Cable 12 to the Back: Slip 6 stitches purl-wise onto the cable needle and hold in back of the work. Knit 6 stitches. Knit the 6 stitches off of the cable needle

This pattern is repetitive; I’ve laid it all out for you this way so you can cross off rows when they’re completed and not lose your place.

Without further ado, let’s begin!

Pattern:

CO 18 stitches

Row 1: knit

Row 2 purl

Repeat these two rows 6 times totaling twelve rows and ending with row 2

Next:

Begin your first cable row.

Cable back row: C12B, K6

Purl

6 rows of stockinette stitch (K,P,K,P,K,P)

Finally:

Bind off

After binding off, sew 3-4 big buttons on the knit side of one end. There’s no need to knit buttonholes on this scarf because it’s so stretchy you can stick a button right through the holes.
