Welcome to ImaginAcres! We’re so glad you’re here.
Who are we?
My name is Meredith, and I’m the mastermind behind ImaginAcres. I live in Upstate New York with my incredible husband, Michael, and our menagerie of farm critters. We got married in the summer of 2013 on a farm, surrounded by family, friends, goats, and chickens. We currently live and farm in the city, where we’re learning all we can on the small property we have. We’re making plans to move out to the country where we can finally spread our wings, and our chickens can too!
What is ImaginAcres?
ImaginAcres is a land where artistic creativity meets farming extravaganza. Named for imagination + acres, this blog is a representation of my two biggest loves in life: art and farming. Here you will read about our struggles with self sufficiency, including growing and raising our own food, making the things we need from scratch, and attempting to keep our sanity in the process. If you’d like to read more about our urban art farm, you can find it all here.
What’s in it for me?
Reading our blog benefits you too! You’ll get to experience the incredible adventure that is urban farming, with all its mud, sweat, and chicken poop without ever having to leave the comfort of your home. I love nothing more than entertaining the fans of ImaginAcres with ridiculous stories and photographs from our farm. My goal is to make you smile and to inspire you to follow your dreams, whatever they may be.
Where will you go from here?
We have big plans for our future. This year we’re expanding our laying flock to include 5 Easter Eggers that lay beautiful blue and green eggs. We’re delving into the world of beekeeping with our very first beehive. We’ll also be expanding the garden so we can grow enough food to put some away for the winter. Any knitters out there? I’m learning how to spin yarn from our Angora rabbit, Dolly, and will be developing a series of super fun knitting knitting patterns for you all to enjoy.
